When we moved into our house, this one was in a very sad state. With outdated tiles and a gaping hole, it was crying out for a makeover.
As we did not want to have real fire in this room, it was a really quick and easy job to bring it back to life. I painted the tiles and chimney breast, made a new pine coloured surround to cover up the edges of the tiles and then filled it with mini logs. A few fairy lights and some chunky candles and we now have a cosy focal point in the room
Fairy Lights make all the difference
There are so many lights in the shops that choosing is hard but I absolutely love these little felt heart lights from Primark
Inexpensive but really effective, coupled with some white lights, they lifted the look of these twigs. The great thing about these is that they are battery operated which means you can place them anywhere in the room without the worry of reaching the plug socket
When lit they light up the centre of the heart, but look equally as good when they are off
I also add a few wooden heart decorations to finish of the look
